Wildlife

Anyone still out there? I know it’s been like a year and a day since I posted on here and a ton of stuff has happened since my last post, but I thought I’d just jump right back in. Although, I should probably do a long post detailing everything that’s gone on in the last 2 ½ months, I’ll just start with something more recent.

Last week on Friday, Josh and I decided to postpone all of the chores we needed to do and just be spontaneous. We started with breakfast at Village Inn, seriously the Pumpkin Pancakes are to die for! After fueling up for the day, Josh had an interesting stop he wanted to make. Josh is a big fan of our local NPR station and it’s currently their membership drive. He decided it was time to become a member and he wanted to stop by the station to make a donation.  The KRCC station is in an old house, converted radio station in downtown Colorado Springs. We stopped in and everyone was so nice. We made our donation and then they gave us a tour of the studio. It was adorable with a small studio on the second floor. We meet the DJs that were on the radio at the time and they talked about us on the radio a few times over the next hour! (I felt famous, lol!)

After finishing up at the radio station, Josh and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful autumn weather and go for a drive through the mountains. We took a route that was new to both of us and it was a gorgeous drive!  Stunning views of the mountains, brilliant fall colors and as peaceful as could be. A little ways along a winding, dirt road I brought up that I was surprised we hadn’t seen any wildlife and told Josh how I would LOVE to see a bear in the wild. Seriously less than a minute later, we went around a curve and there was an adorable bear cub standing in the middle of the road. A few feet in front of us, we stopped and he looked right up at us then took off into the trees. We were both so excited and we waited around a few minutes to see if the Mama bear came along, but no luck. I can’t believe we actually saw a bear. It was totally the highlight of the day. A couple miles later, we saw an entire heard of dear and stopped to watch them for a while. After all of the excitement from the wildlife, we stopped in the tiny (and I mean tiny) town of Deckers for some snacks to enjoy the rest of the way home. The rest of the drive was perfect and it was wonderful.

So that’s how I’m jumping back into blogging. The story of a fun day! I’ll try and catch up quickly!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Here’s what I’m loving on this last Wednesday of August!

I’m loving that a month from today Josh and I will be starting a weeklong vacation in Florida! I cannot wait to relax on the beach and spend some much needed time with the hubs. We were so busy all summer that we couldn’t squeeze in a vaca so this trip is long overdue! The white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are calling my name!

I'll be seeing you soon Florida!
I’m loving this weekend is Labor Day! I’m in desperate need of a 3 day weekend and mine is already shaping up to be jam-packed with fun!

I’m loving that I’m officially a consultant for Thirty-One Gifts. I absolutely love their products and am so excited to be able to offer them to friends and family. Of course I’ve been so busy I haven’t had a party yet, but I’m aiming to get one or two in during September!

A few of my Thirty-One products
I’m loving that fall is just around the corner. I can’t wait for crisp fall weather, sweaters, pumpkins and all of the other wonderful things that come with fall!!

I’m loving that I tried out a new recipe for Pineapple Zucchini Bread last night and it turn out fantastic. The entire time it was baking, my mouth was watering and the final product did not disappoint!

Delish!

Finally, I’m loving how wonder and caring my husband is. I’ve had a rough week with work and have not been feeling to great and Josh is so great at making me feel better and taking care of me. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without him.

Happy Blogiversary!!

This past weekend marked the one year anniversary of this blog! I can’t believe an entire year has passed since I made the decision to document newlywed life. This has probably been the fastest and most enjoyable year on record! Even though I don’t write as often as I would like, I’ve loved sharing my stories with the blog world. Even better is knowing that years from now I’ll be able to look back on this time and recall all of the wonderful things in my life. I love having this online journal, it’s truly amazing! I can’t wait to spend the years to come blogging and sharing mine and Josh’s adventures! I know we’re technically not newlyweds anymore but I can tell that great things are in our future and I want to write about those as well! So I hope you all stick around for more stories from the Dent household!

4th of July Weekend

It’s hard to believe that the 4th of July weekend is already over. The 4th is my absolute favorite holiday and the weekend did not disappoint! Our weekend was AMAZING! We seriously had so much fun; it was filled with the perfect amount of crazy and relaxation!

On the morning of the 4th I did some chores around the house and watched Independence Day while Josh was sleeping and then treated myself to a mani/pedi! I tried a gel manicure for the first time and I absolutely love how it turned out, it’s kind of my new obsession!

Then Josh and I headed to Denver for Josh’s Anniversary present, tickets to a Rapids game. Josh has been wanting to go to a MLS game for awhile so I thought I would get him tickets for our first anniversary (to go with the paper theme).  The game was an absolute blast!!! Seeing as I don’t know much about soccer, I was shocked at how much fun the game was. We had so much fun and the Rapids won 2-0. After the game were fireworks and they were great! Everyone got to spread out on the field to watch the show. There was something so incredibly perfect about lying on the grass while the cool breeze blew, my head on Josh’s chest watching the fireworks as patriotic music blared! It was a surreal moment that seems to perfect to of actually happened.

Friday we had a bunch of errands to run so we woke up early and started the day with breakfast at Village Inn. After breakfast we ran all over town checking off things on our To-Do List. That afternoon Josh and I were so excited to visit some of our best friends who welcomed their handsome baby boy on July 4th!  We stopped by the hospital to meet the adorable Elijah Blair! We are so excited for Shady & Laura and their new little family J Meeting little Elijah was so sweet!!

Friday night Josh and I celebrated our one-year anniversary (a day early) with dinner at a local Jamaican restaurant. We had a super tasty dinner (which reminded us so much of our honeymoon). After dinner we enjoyed champagne and some wedding cake at home. It is so crazy to think that we’ve already been married a year! (Look for an anniversary post coming soon)

Saturday was our actual anniversary and we were off to Denver again! This time for my friend Megan’s wedding. Josh spent the day with his cousin playing golf and I got to go to breakfast with my future cousin Bri! We had a blast talking about her wedding planning. After breakfast I checked into our hotel and took a nap. I needed to get rested for the wedding!! After my nap our friends Jacob and Justine arrived at the hotel! Justine and I spent the afternoon catching up and getting ready for the wedding. Megan & Zach’s wedding was gorgeous!!!! Their venue in downtown Denver we beautiful and classy, so fitting for the couple. Their ceremony was sweet and the bride was stunning! We all had so much fun at the wedding…maybe a little too much fun!

Sunday we were slow going as we tried to recover from the night before. Josh and I had breakfast with Jacob and Justine before we all parted ways. I love spending time with them so much, it’s hard we live hours apart. We spent Sunday evening relaxing at home and watching movies on TV.

It was a much needed four day weekend. We got to celebrate our wonderful country, a sweet new life, the marriage of two wonderful people and an entire year of marriage!! I couldn’t of imagined a better way to spend the weekend.

I hope you all had a perfect holiday weekend too!!!
