Anyone still out there? I know it’s been like a year and a
day since I posted on here and a ton of stuff has happened since my last post,
but I thought I’d just jump right back in. Although, I should probably do a
long post detailing everything that’s gone on in the last 2 ½ months, I’ll just
start with something more recent.
Last week on Friday, Josh and I decided to postpone all of
the chores we needed to do and just be spontaneous. We started with breakfast
at Village Inn, seriously the Pumpkin Pancakes are to die for! After fueling up
for the day, Josh had an interesting stop he wanted to make. Josh is a big fan
of our local NPR station and it’s currently their membership drive. He decided
it was time to become a member and he wanted to stop by the station to make a
donation. The KRCC station is in an old
house, converted radio station in downtown Colorado Springs. We stopped in and
everyone was so nice. We made our donation and then they gave us a tour of the
studio. It was adorable with a small studio on the second floor. We meet the
DJs that were on the radio at the time and they talked about us on the radio a
few times over the next hour! (I felt famous, lol!)
After finishing up at the radio station, Josh and I decided
to take advantage of the beautiful autumn weather and go for a drive through
the mountains. We took a route that was new to both of us and it was a gorgeous
drive! Stunning views of the mountains,
brilliant fall colors and as peaceful as could be. A little ways along a
winding, dirt road I brought up that I was surprised we hadn’t seen any
wildlife and told Josh how I would LOVE to see a bear in the wild. Seriously
less than a minute later, we went around a curve and there was an adorable bear
cub standing in the middle of the road. A few feet in front of us, we stopped
and he looked right up at us then took off into the trees. We were both so
excited and we waited around a few minutes to see if the Mama bear came along,
but no luck. I can’t believe we actually saw a bear. It was totally the
highlight of the day. A couple miles later, we saw an entire heard of dear and
stopped to watch them for a while. After all of the excitement from the
wildlife, we stopped in the tiny (and I mean tiny) town of Deckers for some
snacks to enjoy the rest of the way home. The rest of the drive was perfect and
it was wonderful.
So that’s how I’m jumping back into blogging. The story of a
fun day! I’ll try and catch up quickly!
